The Salon - Orchestra "Old Vienna" was founded in 1994 by the concertmaster of the Vienna Volksoper, Udo Zwölfer.
The primary concern of the Johann Strauss Salonorchester is that vital care be taken of Viennese classical music and so this distinguishes this orchestra, the same way that the music of Johann Strauss did hundred of years ago.
 
The repertoire contains the works of Strauss, Lanner, Ziehrer, as well as Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and "Schrammeln" and Salonmusik. This  orchestra uses uniquely adapted arrangements that have been carefully constructed.
